Popular Assemblies
The Fairness Taskforce are supporting the facilitation of deliberative spaces where there are diverse groups of residents, to shape local policy.
Working closely with Marsh Farm Outreach, the first Popular Assembly took place on April 25th 2026 and was attended by 120 residents.
The assembly brought together residents, community organisations, councillors and local leaders to take part in open discussions around the question ''What needs to happen to make our streets and community spaces in Marsh Farm, cleaner and greener? How do we do it?''
Throughout the day, residents discussed key themes including community safety, young people, environmental issues, community assets, funding and sustainability, and the return of the local market. Participants then voted on the issues they felt should be prioritised for future actions.
The atmosphere throughout the day was positive, respectful and collaborative. This marks the beginning of ongoing resident-led conversations and action within the community.
We are in the planning stages of bringing a Popular Assembly to Bury Park in Summer 2026. If you would like to be involved or have ideas to help shape the event please reach out to the team at Communityevents@Luton.Gov.Uk
